The finish makes the beef
Why 100% grass-fed, grass-finished matters
Most beef cattle in the U.S. start life on pasture, then spend their final months in a feedlot eating grain. That last stretch — the finish — changes what ends up on your plate. Ours eat grass and forage from start to finish.
Grass-fed beef carries up to five times the omega-3 fatty acids of grain-fed beef.1
Conjugated linoleic acid, a fat studied for its potential health benefits, runs roughly double in grass-fed beef.1

Read the label
"Grass-fed" isn't always grass-finished.
Nearly all cattle eat grass early in life. A package can say "grass-fed" even if the animal was switched to a grain diet to fatten up before processing.
Grass-finished means the animal never made that switch — grass and forage for its entire life. That's the standard every cut in our case meets.
Side by side
Conventional grain-fed vs. 100% grass-fed, grass-finished
| Factor | Conventional grain-fed | 100% grass-fed, grass-finished |
|---|---|---|
| Lifetime diet | Pasture early on, then months in a feedlot on a grain-based ration. | Grass and forage from birth to harvest. No grain, ever. |
| What the feed is | Mostly corn and soy — about 92% of U.S. corn and 96% of soybean acres are genetically engineered. | Pasture grasses and forage. |
| Omega-3 fats | Lower. | Up to 5× more. |
| CLA | Lower. | About 2× more. |
| Vitamin A precursors (beta-carotene) & vitamin E | Lower. | Higher — beta-carotene gives grass-fed fat its yellow tint. |
| Total fat | Higher; heavier marbling. | Leaner, with fewer calories per ounce. |
| Flavor | Mild, buttery. | Deeper, beefier, more mineral. |
Nutrient levels vary with the farm, season and cut. Comparisons reflect published research averages.
